Stress – how’s yours?

Will House MD Uncategorized

To say these times are stressful would be an understatement. Pandemics, politics, media, lack of clarity, narratives, unemployment, kids who desperately need to be in school, businesses closing. Doesn’t sound too promising, does it? How do we find stress relief? How does one stay centered? We talk with patients about this daily. One thing that I’ve been recommending for the past few years are two different apps that teach mindfulness meditation techniques. I think everyone should use them; not just those working through stress, anxiety or depression.

The apps are Headspace: https://www.headspace.com/ and Calm: https://www.calm.com/ . They both offer free trials and then have a small monthly fee that is a great return on investment for your mental/emotional health. These apps are available for iOS, Android and on your desktop via the web. Spend some time with both and see which you like. In our house we use both.

If you find that you’re struggling with increased anxiety or depression please reach out to schedule with us. We’d love to help with CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) tools and other methods that can make a huge difference. In the meantime, keep breathing and spend more time outdoors and less time with social media.
